I don't care about necessarily choosing the cow from the herd, but I do like the option of buying beaf that is raised locally, free of antibiotics & steroids, and has been raised on pasture. Support your countryside.
The other nice thing is knowing the ground chuck you are eating is all from the same cow. Most ground beef these days are from who knows how many cattle from feed lots all over the country.
