My Sister’s Virginity of Hunting…

And the Villiers-Cotterets’ first day of the season! Off with littermate, whose comment as we approached the meet was “There sure is a lot of STUFF going on!”

Our guide was mine from that lovely day in the snow . Who had the bad luck to see me after I had already seen her…

Waiting waiting waiting…

Might want to huile that bridle!

My littermate likes the chiens- they sure pack a lot of them into this little van.

The Road of Fate, Hanging…

Wouldn’t be a V-C report without this whipper-in putting one back .

Je suis avec stupide…

Getting ready for the first draw…

Watching and waiting. ..

And off! A couple of casts and hound found. They pushed the deer into a little obstacle…

And back out. A couple of stags and biches, who separated. Biches crossed the road…

Of course a few hounds had to be sent back from chasing the women. Whipping in is much the same everywhere, fortunately these hound were not trying to err too hard. One was named Arthur…

Heard anything?

Happy to be out!

Hounds were at fault, but then three hoooots from someone in the field!

Lift and lay on…

A few from the truck…

And the land rover…

A brief run, a check, a long draw, and a find…

A run through the forest…

A view down an allee! And another!

Here’s a closer shot by the Littermate…

And what did he do?

That’s right, he laid down!!

Testament to their camouflage. If I had just looked down that allee while he lay there, I never would have seen him. And I had never seen one accouche in an open place before!

“What are you lookeeng at? Go away, zere is nozzing to see ‘ere!”

Up and away. Hounds held back to get them all on. Ensemble en Francais…

And through the woods again…

A long wait while they drew…

Alas rien…

The sun began to go down,

And they found him again! Recule, passé, derriere, montez…

The race now between a hard pressed stag on one side...

Even after seven and half hours, those first day out hounds were still fired up…

Don’t tell the French dog union!

All sorts and conditions of people still watched and followed…

Back to the chemin de fer! Then, quell horreur!!!!

Oh NOOOO!!!!!

Potential CARNAGE!!!

I believe my Littermate may be... interested...

Darkness and the stag won. Still hounds were afoot for eight hours, a pretty good first day by any standards!!

Not in THIS 2500 Meters!
I can hear him now- "Ah, today I saved all you biches from ze 'ounds... Truly I am le Roi de Foret!"
